HYDERABAD: Narsingi police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly attempting to construct houses on government land by using forged pattas (documents) in Kokapet, police said on Wednesday. According to police, revenue authorities received information that unauthorised construction was underway on government land in Survey No. 147 at Kokapet. When officials visited the site and questioned the individuals involved, they produced documents claiming that the government had allotted them house pattas, each measuring 80 square yards.

However, when the documents were verified with the Collectorate, the papers were found to be fake, officials said. Following this, the Collector directed revenue officials to lodge a police complaint and initiate criminal proceedings against those involved.

Acting on instructions, Gandipet tahsildar Srinivasa Reddy filed complaint at the police station, against K. Lakshma Reddy, R. Anil, R. Viswanath and R. Sunil, all residents of Kokapet. Based on the complaint, police registered the case and took up investigation to ascertain the extent of alleged forgery and identify other persons involved in the preparation or circulation of fake pattas.
