Eloped couple held in Hyderabad lodge for smuggling ganja

Hyderabad: A young couple, who eloped from their house in Serilingampally and was residing in a private lodge, was arrested by the Prohibition and Excise department for allegedly selling ganja to persons known to them at Kondapur, officials said.

Around one kg of ganja was recovered from the possession of the arrested couple - D Raju and Sanjana, both in their mid 20’s. While Raju was a native of Nellore district, Sanjana belonged to Madhya Pradesh, officials said.

Raju came to Hyderabad in search of livelihood and worked as a manager in an education startup for a few months and later started working in a hotel. He along with Sanjana’s family used to reside in Serilingampally where they fell in love.

Three months ago, they eloped from their house and were staying in a lodge where they started doing ganja business. Based on information, the Excise department State Task Force (STF) headed by Excise Superintendent N Anjireddy raided the lodge and arrested the couple.

In a separate case, a woman identified as Rakhi Bhai was caught by the STF sleuths for selling ganja at Dhoolpet.
