Sangareddy: In a heartbreaking incident, an elderly couple who had distributed their entire property to their children took their own lives by jumping into a well due to alleged neglect. The incident occurred in Chapta (K) village of Narayankhed mandal in the district.

According to Narayankhed CI Srinivas Reddy, Munge Narsareddy (88) and Anjamma (85) had three sons - Siddareddy, Kishtareddy and Sangareddy. Narsareddy owned about 22 acres of agricultural land and a house in the village, which he had distributed among his three sons. While one son lived in Hyderabad, the other two were staying in the same village.

However, the sons allegedly failed to take care of them, forcing the octogenarian couple to take shelter in a relative's house in the village. Narsareddy had reportedly approached officials from mandal to district level, requesting that two acres from the land he had given to his sons be re-registered in his name to provide them a means of livelihood, but to no avail.

Deeply distressed over this, the couple jumped into a well in their farmland on Wednesday morning and died by suicide. Based on a complaint lodged by their grandson, Munge Maruthi Reddy, police have registered a case and are investigating.
