HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said the state government had allocated ₹1,290 crore for the development of temples in the state and ₹20 crore was specifically allocated for the Bonalu festivities in the capital.

He was speaking after participating in the Bonalu celebrations at the Simhavahini Mahankali temple at Lal Darwaza. He said Bonalu was the identity of Telangana’s culture. "It is heartening to see the festival is being celebrated in a peaceful and devotional atmosphere across the city," Bhatti said.

He said government officials and staff were working to ensure that no inconvenience was caused to anyone. “The government is organising the Bonalu celebrations in a systematic and well-coordinated manner," Bhatti said.

He offered silk garments on behalf of the state government to the Goddess. “We prayed to the Goddess to bless the people of our state with well-being and prosperity, and to cast Her benevolent gaze on society and on all of humanity," Bhatti said.

He pointed out that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had earlier assured that measures would be taken for the development of temples. “We will further develop the premises surrounding the Mahankali temple,” Bhatti said.
