HYDERABAD: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested seven persons, including four international passengers arriving from Bangkok, and seized 27.15 kg of hydroponic weed worth ₹9.5 crore at the Shamshabad airport.

A statement said that based on specific intelligence inputs, officers of the Hyderabad and Chennai zonal units had mounted surveillance at the airport’s arrival area in the early hours of Saturday.

Four Indian passengers arriving on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok were intercepted along with three associates while they were collecting their checked-in baggage around 1.15 am.

On inspection, DRI officers found the narcotic substance concealed in the baggage.
