Hyderabad: The director of public health has issued an advisory urging people to take precautions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, forecast light to moderate rainfall across Telangana over the next week. The combination of lower temperatures and increased humidity could trigger seasonal illnesses, particularly vector‑borne, water‑borne and airborne diseases.
To prevent mosquito‑borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and chikungunya, residents have been advised to install mosquito screens, use nets over beds and cribs, and apply repellents. Proper drainage, covering septic tanks with mesh and observing a weekly Dry Day every Friday were also stressed to eliminate breeding grounds.
The advisory highlighted the need to prevent water‑borne infections such as acute gastroenteritis, jaundice and typhoid. Citizens were urged to drink boiled or filtered water, wash hands regularly and avoid unhygienic food.
