Lower deck will serve as a service road, the middle deck will carry NH 65, and a metro-rail bridge will run above them : Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy
NALGONDA: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday announced plans to construct a double-deck elevated corridor from LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet to ease traffic on National Highway 65 within GHMC limits.
Inaugurating his new camp office at Clock Tower Centre in Nalgonda, built at a cost of ₹13 crore, he explained that the lower deck will serve as a service road, the middle deck will carry NH 65, and a metro-rail bridge will run above them. He will submit the project proposal to Union Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on August 5. A detailed project report (DPR) has also been prepared to expand NH-65 into an eight-lane highway. He plans to request Gadkari’s approval for the proposed Vijayawada-Hyderabad Greenfield Express Highway to pass through Nalgonda, and has suggested to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy that this expressway be linked to Fourth City.
Listing his department’s local initiatives, Venkat Reddy said the Gram Panchayat building at Brahmana Vellamla (Narketpally mandal) will be remodelled with a ₹1.2 crore investment into a model facility for South India. The project will also fill and strengthen the earth bund of Pedda Cheruvu at Narketpally, developing it as a tourist attraction. Under the Hybrid Annuity Model, bridges at Chinthapally and Nandipadu will begin construction within 10 days, and a ₹260 crore tender has been finalised for the Damaracherla-Yadadri Thermal Power Plant Road.
He noted that Nalgonda’s Government General Hospital has become one of the state’s largest medical facilities following recent infrastructure upgrades. Primary Health Centres at Thipparthy and Kanagal will be upgraded into 30-bed hospitals.
Venkat Reddy added that the lining work for the Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project canal is expected to be approved at the next Cabinet meeting and completed within one year, and that work on the Gandamalla Reservoir will commence soon with a ₹1,000 crore allocation.
He warned that BRS leaders implicated in irregularities during the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and phone-tapping scandals will face prosecution, and clarified that his own phone was not tapped under the previous administration. He also affirmed that the state government will block Andhra Pradesh’s proposed Bhanakacherla Reservoir, which could threaten Telangana’s water interests.
Recalling his initial disappointment that the Indiramma housing scheme had not launched within a year of the new government, he praised its current rapid rollout and its role in fulfilling the dream of homeownership for the poor.
Telangana Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, MLAs Vemula Veeresham, Bathula Laxma Reddy, Kunduru Jayaveer Reddy, and MLC Nellikanti Satyam also attended the programme.
