Don’t Worry About Section 22A Prohibited List, Says Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday appealed to property owners in Telangana not to panic over properties included in the Section 22A prohibited list, assuring that he would take responsibility for ensuring that genuine owners do not lose their plots, flats or houses due to the provision.

Speaking after laying the foundation for the construction of Indiramma Housing Towers at KPHB Colony, the Chief Minister said he would issue orders to the stamps and registration department to denotify properties that had been mistakenly included in the Section 22A list and facilitate their registration. He assured people that they would not lose their properties and asked them not to believe the false propaganda by vested interests seeking to defame the Congress government over the issue.

The assurance came amid widespread reports of lands and properties being included in the prohibited list under Section 22A of the Registration Act, causing considerable anxiety among property owners who have been unable to sell, transfer or mortgage their properties to meet urgent financial requirements.

Several people have been running from one office to another in the revenue and stamps and registration departments seeking clarity on the status of their plots, flats and houses. Property owners have complained that in several cases, if even one subdivision in a survey number was classified as government land, the entire survey number was brought under the prohibited category, effectively preventing the sale or transfer of all plots, flats and houses located in that survey number.

Residents have also alleged that several apartment complexes in Hyderabad, as well as independent houses and open plots in Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and other districts, were placed under the prohibited category despite owners possessing valid GHMC or HMDA building permissions, occupancy certificates, property tax receipts and other legitimate documents. Section 22A places restrictions on the sale, transfer or mortgage of specified lands and properties, leaving owners unable to transact in properties that have been brought under the prohibited list.

Revanth Reddy said genuine property owners had no reason to fear and reiterated that the government would take corrective measures wherever properties were wrongly included in the list.

He also appealed to people to distinguish between genuine administrative issues and what he called a campaign of misinformation being spread on social media. “Do not believe the false propaganda being spread by some people on social media. Compare the 10 years of their rule with the two years of your brother’s government,” he said, urging people to assess the performance of the Congress government objectively.

The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on BRS leaders, alleging that some of them were performing “kshudra pujas” and occult rituals in neighbouring states such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the hope that Telangana would receive no rains, drought would prevail and people would suffer and die, so that they could blame and defame the Congress government. He said such forces were seeking to create difficulties for the government by wishing for calamities in the state.

Despite the impact of El Nino, Revanth Reddy said Telangana had received good rains recently, resulting in the Yellampalli reservoir becoming full and resolving the drinking water problem faced by Hyderabad. “Rain God favoured me despite El Nino. Because my intentions are pure and I want to do good to people, God favoured me, and luck was on my side,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister said he had the age, patience and determination to work for the welfare of Telangana and asserted that his government was taking the State from destruction towards development. “I have the age, I have the patience, and I have the determination to do good for you,” he said. He added that the government’s intention to develop Telangana with a good heart had the blessings of God and that those resorting to occult practices with an evil mindset would ultimately face the consequences themselves.

Revanth Reddy appealed to the people to continue supporting his government and promised to demonstrate development through concrete action. “Stand by us. I will develop Telangana and Hyderabad and show you the results in ten years,” he said.
