Doctor Killed in Car–School Bus Collision Near Kalwakurthy

Mahabubnagar: A government doctor died in a road accident after the car he was travelling in collided with a private school bus near Kalwakurthy New Town on Saturday morning.

According to police, the accident occurred near CBM College under Kalwakurthy mandal limits on the Raichur–Kodada National Highway. Dr. Vijay Kumar (43), who was travelling in the car, sustained severe injuries in the collision.

He was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Kalwakurthy town, where he died while undergoing treatment. His body was later moved to the Kalwakurthy Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police said the doctor had gone to the Vande Mataram Foundation premises near the town for morning exercise and was returning when the accident took place.

Dr. Vijay Kumar hailed from Makthal town in Narayanpet district and had been serving at the Kalwakurthy Government Hospital for the past three years. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Yashwanth Rani, who is also a medical practitioner, and their two children.

Several doctors and colleagues expressed deep condolences over his untimely demise.
