Hyderabad: The mismatch of DNA collected from a few relatives with that of Madina bus accident victims has delayed the issuance of death and burial certificates.
“The DNA of two or three victims was not matching with their relatives. This led to a further examination by authorities, affecting the process of issuing compensation,” minorities welfare secretary B. Shafiullah told Deccan Chronicle.
“One of the samples was sent to the CCMB (Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology), whose report is being awaited. Once the report comes, the report can be sent to the consulate in Jeddah. Hopefully, the process will be completed in a week," he said.
Recently, the anxious relatives urged the government to pursue issue of the delay in the issuance of death certificates to make insurance claims.
“In view of our emotional and financial distress, we request the Telangana Haj Committee to extend support, coordination, correspondence, guidance, and follow-up with the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, to the Saudi authorities for expediting the accidental insurance claim settlement at earliest,” said Mufti Asif, who lost six of his family members in the tragedy.
