Hyderabad: The DLF Road, a bustling stretch notorious for its chaotic traffic yet known for its vibrant food scene, is set for a major transformation. To ease congestion for commuters heading towards Wipro Circle and Patancheruvu, authorities are planning to relocate popular food establishments along a one-kilometer stretch that has become a daily bottleneck. The relocation could happen in a month or two.

A senior police official confirmed to Deccan Chronicle, saying, "Eateries and customer vehicles have gradually taken over nearly half of the road, severely disrupting traffic flow." The officer added that the congestion is particularly problematic for those traveling between Lingampally, Kondapur, Wipro Circle, ISB Road, BHEL and Patancheruvu—areas that frequently become choke points during peak hours.

DLF Road has long been a haven for food lovers, offering a wide variety of flavors—from Telugu-style tiffins and snacks to crowd-favorite Maggi. It has an aromatic Mandi and Pista House. The stretch also serves up Kerala and Rajasthani cuisine, shawarma stalls and trendy offerings like Japanese desserts, waffles and Boba teas. Sub-lanes off the main road connecting to hostels, with one stretch particularly famous for tea stalls, fruit malai salad and fast foods. However, this beloved food hub may soon become a thing of the past.

T. Prathiba, 27, a private employee working in the DLF building, expressed her concern. "I stay in a hostel just behind one of the food joints. If these places are gone, what will be left here?" she said, visibly emotional. Another visitor added, "It's not just about food. It's about our culture, our flavors and the experiences we share here. This place deserves to be showcased, not relocated."

Reports suggest that the area near ITC Kohenur may become the new hub for these eateries, where they could operate on a rental basis. While this move could improve traffic flow, many fear it may come at the cost of DLF Road's unique charm.
