BRS alleges defection to Congress; Speaker yet to rule on two other MLAs’ cases
Hyderabad: Assembly Speaker G. Prasad Kumar will on Wednesday hold a hearing on a disqualification petition filed against Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiam Srihari, who the BRS alleges has joined the Congress. A notice to appear before the Speaker was issued to Srihari on Monday in the case related to the disqualification plea filed by the BRS’ Quthbullapur MLA K.P. Vivekanand Goud.
The BRS, had in all, alleged that 10 of its MLAs crossed over to the Congress and sought their disqualification. Of these, the Speaker has so far given a clean chit to seven MLAs, ruling that they were still with the BRS.
While the petition against Srihari will be heard on Wednesday, the Speaker, as the chairman of the Tribunal set up under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution of India to examine the disqualification petitions, is yet to decide on the fate of two other MLAs, Danam Nagender from Khairatabad, and Dr Sanjay Kumar from Jagtial.
