Jagtial: Monkey-Fight On Rooftop Turns Fatal, Housewife Killed

Jagtial: The growing monkey menace in the district resulted in the death of a 50-year-old housewife on Tuesday in Dharmapuri town in Telangana. As per reports, the victim identified as Konaparti Padma was sitting below an under-construction building in Kamalapur Indiramma Colony when a troop of monkeys began fighting on the roof above. In the fight that ensued, the monkeys knocked down a loose cement brick, which was used to keep a sheet from flying off. The heavy brick hit her directly on the head, leading to a severe injury and blood loss, and she died instantly.
Dharmapuri police reached the scene after receiving information and shifted the body to the Dharmapuri Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
The incident has triggered panic among locals, who expressed strong frustration over the growing monkey menace in the town. Residents said this is not the first such tragedy. In a previous incident in Dharmapuri, a woman died after falling from a terrace while being chased by monkeys. Locals said the monkeys come in large numbers and frequently attack residents and school children, leading to fear among the citizens to even step out onto the streets.
Residents of Indiramma Colony are demanding that Dharampuri municipality and forest department officials respond and take urgent measures to curb the monkey menace.
