DGP Orders Security for Ganesh Festivities

Hyderabad:Director-General of Police C.V. Anand directed police officers to make comprehensive security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of Ganesh festivities across the state. Anand, during a video conference at the DGP office with SIs and senior police officers across the state on Monday, reviewed preparedness for the festivities, which will commence on Sept. 14 and culminate with Ganesh idol immersion on Sept. 25.
The DGP said a dedicated online portal has been introduced to collect and monitor details of Ganesh pandals. Information relating to the location of pandals, organisers and committee members, as well as vehicles being used for idol immersion, should be updated on the platform.
Anand said SHOs have been provided with dedicated logins to monitor arrangements and activities relating to the pandals. Respective commissioners, DCPs and SPs should visit the pandals and enter observations and remarks in point books. Police should pay special attention to electrical safety and traffic management around Ganesh pandals and coordinate closely with the electricity, fire and other departments, the DGP instructed.
Organisers should be encouraged to deploy volunteers and ensure CCTV cameras and queue‑security arrangements at pandals. Officials should collect advance information on immersion routes, roads, bridges and their load‑bearing capacity and ensure appropriate traffic and security arrangements for Sept. 25, the DGP said.
Anand directed officers to use geo‑tagging and the event application to record pandal locations and security precautions. BD teams and dog squads should be deployed. Use of geo‑tagging and checking should also be uploaded on the TG‑COP platform, he emphasised.
The DGP stressed the need for close coordination among police stations. Senior officials should hold meetings with Ganesh Utsav committees and peace committees and conduct brief sessions for police personnel deployed on bandobast duty. He further directed officers to keep a close watch on social media and promptly address any issues that could affect public order.
