Hyderabad: An unidentified decomposed body was found during desilting works at a drain outlet in Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at Motukula Kunta outlet in Machabollaram under Alwal mandal, where HYDRAA DRF and monsoon response teams were carrying out desilting operations. While removing accumulated garbage using a JCB, workers found the body mixed with waste.

Officials said that items such as mattresses, pillows, bedsheets, and large quantities of plastic waste are usually found during such operations. However, the discovery of a human body has caused concern.

HYDRAA personnel immediately alerted the police. Alwal police reached the spot, took custody of the body, and shifted it for further examination.

According to preliminary information, the body is suspected to be around 15 days old. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the death.
