WARANGAL: The Union government has announced festive cheer for railway employees, approving a productivity linked bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for eligible non-gazetted railway staff. The decision is expected to benefit around 11.40 lakh employees across the country.

The government has sanctioned ₹2,009.61 crore towards the bonus pay-out. Each eligible employee will receive a maximum of ₹17,951, providing financial relief to railway personnel ahead of the festive season.

The bonus covers eligible non-gazetted employees across several categories, including track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsmen and other Group C staff.

The productivity linked bonus is intended to recognise the contribution of railway employees to the operational performance of the national transporter. Railway personnel play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of passengers and freight across the country.

The decision comes in recognition of the workforce’s contribution to railway operations, including passenger services and freight transportation. The annual bonus is expected to provide additional financial support to eligible employees and their families during the festive period.

The payment of the bonus ahead of Dasara and Diwali is also aimed at acknowledging the efforts of railway staff who help maintain essential transport services throughout the year.
