Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police said they recorded a 19-per cent decline in cybercrime incidents because of their focus on cybercrime prevention and enforcement. Cybercrime incidents fell from 4,618 in 2024 to 3,734 in 2025.

Rachakonda commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that investment frauds, part-time job scams, unauthorised transactions, fake customer-care frauds, APK file traps, loan-app harassment and business frauds continued to dominate cybercrime complaints.

“Swift coordination with financial institutions and advanced technical tracking significantly aided case detection and intervention,” he said.

One of the major achievements of the Rachakonda commissionerate during the year was facilitating refunds worth Rs 40.10 crore to cyber fraud victims. The police also executed PT warrants, arrested accused persons and served notices to offenders across multiple categories of cyber fraud.

Cyber awareness formed the backbone of the preventive policing strategy. Emphasising that awareness is key to protecting citizens from falling prey to cybercrime, the police chief said such initiatives would continue as a core component of public safety efforts.
