Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police advised all residents to stay alert and follow precautionary measures to ensure safety of their houses during summer vacation.

Cyberabad DCP Crimes LC Naik said that homes were often left unguarded, creating ideal conditions for thefts and burglaries as many families intend to travel during summer vacation. He listed out various precautionary steps to be taken by residents during vacation.

The resident must inform the local police station about their departure and arrival plans apart from installing locks with a central locking system for added security. The house owners must arrange a security alarm system with motion sensors for the house and they must report the movement of any suspicious individuals immediately to the local police station or call 100.

The residents must keep their two-wheelers inside the compound and ensure they are locked, and if possible, secure them with wheel chains. They should hire trusted watchmen or security guards for protecting the house.

CCTV cameras should be installed at entry and exit points of the home and monitor them online in addition to ensuring that the DVR is stored in a secure location.

The house owners must avoid leaving garbage, milk packets, or newspapers outside the house, as this may indicate the absence of family members to criminals apart from covering locked doors with curtains to prevent them from being visible to strangers.

Residents must keep lights on inside and outside the home to create the impression of occupancy and inform trusted neighbors about their absence requesting them to look after the home. Under circumstances, the residents must not disclose travel plans to anyone except trusted individuals.

“Avoid sharing travel details on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook. By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safety of property during the vacation. If residents suspect any person, they must dial 100, Cyberabad police control room 9490617100, WhatsApp number 9490617444,” the police said.
