Cyberabad Police Secure ₹21.90 Crore Refunds

The refunds pertain to 2,232 cybercrime cases registered across 24 police stations within the Cyberabad Commissionerate

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police achieved a major milestone in cybercrime victim restitution by securing refund orders worth ₹21.90 crore during the National Lok Adalat. The refunds pertain to 2,232 cybercrime cases registered across 24 police stations within the Cyberabad Commissionerate.

According to officials, the refunds were approved by courts in favour of victims who lost money in online investment scams, task frauds, digital arrest scams, phishing attacks and fake customer care frauds. Once formalities are completed, banks will credit the recovered amounts directly into victims’ accounts.

The Cybercrime police station accounted for the highest refund amount of ₹20.54 crore, followed by Ameenpur police station with ₹45.94 lakh. Kukatpally police station facilitated refunds worth ₹12.55 lakh, while other stations collectively secured ₹78.43 lakh.

Police attributed the success to detailed financial investigations carried out by cybercrime investigators. Officials coordinated with banks and financial institutions to trace fraudulent transactions, analyse account movements, verify KYC details and identify fund flows. Based on the evidence, refund petitions were filed before courts, enabling victims to recover their money.

Telangana Cyber Security Bureau director and special chief secretary (home) Shikha Goel congratulated Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh and the personnel involved, describing their efforts in providing financial relief to victims as commendable.


Four arrested in Narsingi land fraud case

HYDERABAD: Narsingi police busted an alleged land fraud racket and arrested four persons for attempting to sell a valuable parcel of land using forged property documents. Police said the accused claimed ownership rights through fake records and tried to mislead prospective buyers.

The case came to light after a Kokapet resident lodged a complaint on June 20, alleging that a group was attempting to sell land in Brindavan Colony of Narsingi village using suspicious documents. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Four suspects were apprehended and several property‑related documents seized, including a suspected forged sale deed.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the accused prepared and used fabricated documents to project themselves as lawful owners. Police suspect the group intended to sell the property to unsuspecting buyers by creating a false impression of legitimate ownership.

The arrested persons were identified as Makineni Siva Sankara Prasad of Vijayawada, Kammela Srinivasa Rao from Tenali, Nallam Adinarayana from Kukatpally and Majji Naresh from Vijayawada. Another accused is absconding and efforts are underway to trace him. Teams are also carrying out technical and legal verification of the seized documents to establish authenticity and identify the source of the forged records.


Five held in Medak gambling raid

HYDERABAD: Medak district Task Force police arrested five persons for allegedly organising and participating in a gambling activity known as Bomma‑Borusu on the outskirts of Narsampalli village in Narsingi mandal.

Acting on credible information, the Task Force team conducted a raid and apprehended the accused at the spot. The arrested persons were identified as Kummari Lingam, Sriram Satish, Penjarla Rajender, Devasoth Dasarath and Chakali Venkatesh. Police seized ₹20,796 in cash linked to the gambling activity along with six mobile phones. Two other suspects, Naveen Reddy and Guguloth Raj Naik, are absconding.

Medak superintendent of police D.V. Srinivasa Rao said strict action would be taken against all forms of gambling, including card games, Bomma‑Borusu and cockfights. He appealed to citizens to inform police about gambling or other illegal activities in their localities, assuring that informants’ identities would be kept confidential. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding suspects and continue the investigation.
