Hyderabad: The Ibrahimpatnam police received a complaint from three persons alleging that they found a lizard in chicken biryani that was served to them in Mehfil hotel on Sagar Road here.

G Krishna Reddy, a resident of Sheriguda village in Ibrahimpatnam and two others came to Mehfil restaurant and ordered chicken biryani. After a waiter served them, Reddy and others found a lizard that was fried in the biryani.

When they questioned him, the waiter feigned ignorance. Left with no other option, they approached the manager and enquired about the substandard quality of food served to customers thereby posing health risk to them.

Much to their surprise, the manager advised Reddy and others to eat the lizard as it was fried nicely. Enraged over the manager’s reply, Reddy and others came to Ibrahimpatnam police station and lodged a complaint.

Ibrahimpatnam Sub-Inspector V Chander Singh confirmed that a complaint was received against Mehfil hotel from Reddy and two others. “We entered the complaint details in the general diary maintained at the police station and summoned the manager Razack asking him to appear before us,” he said, adding that a case would be booked against him.

Reddy also lodged a separate complaint with the Ibrahimpatnam municipal and food safety officials against Mehfil hotel.
