HYDERABAD: Cricket fans in Hyderabad celebrated India’s thrilling victory over Pakistan in the men’s T20 final of the 2026 Asian Games on Saturday. India posted 211 for six before restricting Pakistan to 192 for six to retain the gold medal for the second consecutive Asian Games.
Fans said Abhishek Sharma’s 61 and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 51 helped India set a strong target. “Hasan Nawaz’s batting spell was good, but India’s bowlers held their nerve in the closing overs. It was a good win for the team,” said Yashwanth, a resident of KPHB Colony.
Nagarjuna, another fan from Khairatabad, said: “It was an exhilarating match. After India put up 211, I was confident, but Pakistan’s chase made it tense. The bowlers did a great job.”
“The way our bowlers restricted Pakistan despite Hasan Nawaz scoring 96 was excellent. It was a proper India‑Pakistan thriller,” said another fan from Koti.
The victory gave India its second successive men’s cricket gold at the Asian Games, following the title won at Hangzhou in 2023.
