HYDERABAD: Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad, organised a two-day hands-on-heart CPR and first aid training programme in collaboration with Osmania Medical College. The programme, which concluded on Saturday, aimed to promote awareness and preparedness in handling medical emergencies.

The initiative was designed to equip school students and the staff of Rashtrapati Nilayam with vital, life-saving skills. Over 1,200 students from 28 schools actively participated in the intensive training sessions conducted across the two days.

The training began with an interactive demonstration by Dr Anitha Bhalla, professor and HoD, department of cardiothoracic surgery, Osmania General and Chest Hospital, who explained the correct techniques of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using mannequins and simulation models.

A dedicated team of expert doctors and medical student volunteers from the Rotaract Club of Osmania Medical College provided hands-on training to participants, emphasising the importance of immediate response during cardiac emergencies.

A first aid training session was also conducted by Dr Keerthana Yadav, assistant professor of anaesthesiology, Osmania Medical College and Hospital.

Participants practised CPR techniques on mannequins, learning the proper hand placement, compression depth and rescue breathing — critical components of effective resuscitation.

The staff of Rashtrapati Nilayam, along with security personnel, also received comprehensive training on CPR and basic First Aid procedures.
