CPM Leader Alleges Negligence Behind RIMS Fire Incident
He cited situations of poor sanitation and shortage of medicines for patients at the hospital and demanded that the state and central governments pay adequate compensation to the families who lost their infants.
Adilabad:The CPI(M) Telangana state secretary John Wesley on Friday alleged that negligence by medical authorities, the district administration and the state government led to the fire in the SNCU ward at Rims, Adilabad.
He cited situations of poor sanitation and shortage of medicines for patients at the hospital and demanded that the state and central governments pay adequate compensation to the families who lost their infants. He also sought action against errant officials.
John Wesley said the Rims authorities had failed to carry out repairs and alleged that regular maintenance of fire safety systems, electrical infrastructure and other facilities had been neglected. He also alleged that the development of Rims had been neglected.
The CPM leader visited Rims, enquired about the incident and interacted with patients undergoing treatment in various departments.John Wesley alleged that Rims director Jai Singh Rathod had neglected repairs to air-conditioners despite the parents of the infants bringing the issue to his notice. He also expressed concern over delays in the paying of salaries to outsourcing workers.
He later visited Anukunta village and interacted with farmers whose lands are proposed to be acquired for the joint-use airfield. He demanded the best rehabilitation package for oustees and compensation to farmers for the land to be acquired.
The state government, he said, should provide alternative livelihoods to farmers who lose their land for the project and jobs to their family members.
CPM state secretariat member Bandari Ravikumar, state committee member Udutha Ravi, Pusam Sachin, AIDWA state vice-president Ashalatha, district secretary Darshanla Mallesh and senior leaders Bandi Dattari, Lanka Raghavulu and Kiran were present.
