Court Grants Police Custody Of Trainee IPS Officer

A women’s safety wing team headed by DCP Dr Lavanya Naik and Attapur police will take Krishna Reddy into custody on Thursday till August 7 for questioning on abusive videos, financial transactions and another complaint lodged by a victim from Andhra Pradesh, police said.

Krishna Reddy was arrested last week after his colleague at the National Police Academy lodged a complaint alleging sexual assault, blackmail and attempted murder. He was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Investigators filed a petition seeking seven days’ police custody, resulting in Wednesday’s order.

Police constable killed in highway accident

A police constable attached to Hasanparthy Police Station in Hanumakonda district was killed in a road accident on the Warangal–Hyderabad National Highway near Komalla Toll Plaza in Raghunathpally mandal of Jangaon district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Parupalli Dhanunjay (43), a native of Kunoor village in Jafargadh mandal. Police said Dhanunjay, who was residing in Hanumakonda, had attended the 10th-day death ritual of a close relative at Kanchanpalli village in Raghunathpally mandal.

While returning to Hanumakonda on his motorcycle, he reportedly rammed into the rear of a stationary car near the toll plaza.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car had been parked on the roadside without parking lights, hazard lights or any warning signs, as its occupants had stopped to relieve themselves. Dhanunjay is believed to have failed to notice the vehicle and crashed into it, dying on the spot from severe injuries.

He is survived by his wife, Deepika, a son and a daughter.

Raghunathpally Sub-Inspector D. Naresh Yadav registered a case and is investigating the incident.

Drunk father attempts to kill son

A drunk man allegedly attempted to murder his four‑year‑old son at Pillar 104 of the PVNR Expressway, leaving him critically injured.

The accused, Mohammed Salman (25), after a quarrel with his wife Asma at 7.30 am on Wednesday, attacked the minor.

Salman then tried to throw the minor under a moving lorry, but neighbours in Gudimalkapur intervened, rescued the child and overpowered Salman before handing him over to the police.

Gudimalkapur SI Bajya Naik said Salman was a habitual drinker and had been involved in repeated disputes with his wife. During interrogation, Salman revealed that he had misled his family by saying he was taking his to relatives in Aramghar, but instead headed to the expressway where he carried out the attack.

“We shifted the victim to Niloufer Hospital. Doctors later moved him to the ICCU, stating his condition is critical,” Naik said. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against Salman. His formal arrest is yet to be disclosed.

Ten accused produced in e‑petty cases

Special Metropolitan Magistrate Sarva Lakshmi at Kushaiguda sentenced 10 persons accused in e‑petty cases registered by the Kushaiguda police on Wednesday.

In one case, a 54‑year‑old private employee from Gandhinagar, Kapra was sentenced to two days simple imprisonment and a fine of `50 for behaving indecently towards a woman.

In another case, a 41‑year‑old private employee from North Kamalanagar, Kushaiguda, was directed to perform one day of community service after finding him guilty of obscene gestures.

The remaining eight accused, produced in separate e‑petty cases, were fined according to the nature of the offences.

Speeding car kills biker

A 33‑year‑old private company supervisor, Soda Praveen, died after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding car in Narsingi during the early hours of Wednesday. Police registered a case and initiated investigation.

According to Narsingi police, the accident occurred at around 12.25 am on the ORR service road near My Home Avatar Junction. Praveen sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His body was later shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post‑mortem examination.

They appealed to motorists to avoid overspeeding and reckless driving, particularly at night. Two‑wheeler riders were advised to wear quality helmets and follow speed limits, while car drivers were urged to wear seat belts and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent fatal accidents.

Police probe missing Dubai technician case

Family members of a technician, Abeda Tehaniath, lodged a complaint with RGIA Shamshabad police stating that she has been missing since November last year. Abeda had gone to work at a medical store in Dubai on August 26, 2025, but immigration officials confirmed she returned to Hyderabad in November before she went missing.

According to her mother Shaheda Begum, Abeda completed her lab technician course and left for Dubai last August. She was in contact with her mother until November, after which both her mobile phones were switched off. Shaheda had earlier lodged a missing complaint with Tolichowki police.

Shaheda, a resident of Paramount Colony, said she feared something had happened to her only daughter, especially after losing her husband Mohammed Ashraf in July last year. Abeda’s uncle Md Osman said the family had contacted her friends in Dubai and Hyderabad, but none had been in touch with her since November. “We will also approach the Indian Embassy in Dubai to trace her whereabouts and ensure she is safe,” Osman said.

During investigation, immigration officials collected Abeda’s travel history and confirmed she had travelled alone to Dubai in August and returned to Hyderabad in November. Police registered a missing case, collected her mobile numbers and photographs, and said teams were making efforts to trace her.

Teenager dies after pesticide exposure

An 18-year-old youth died after accidentally ingesting pesticide while spraying crops in an agricultural field at Gorregudem in Mallial mandal of Jagtial district, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased, Edla Manohar, was spraying pesticide on his family's crop on July 12 when a small quantity of the chemical accidentally entered his mouth.

After developing severe vomiting and other health complications, he was initially admitted to hospitals in Jagtial and Karimnagar. On the advice of doctors, he was later shifted to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, where he died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday.

Manohar was pursuing a course at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI).

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

Two held for diverting LPG cylinders

Ghatkesar police arrested two persons for allegedly purchasing subsidised domestic LPG cylinders from beneficiaries and diverting them for commercial use. The arrests were made during a vehicle checking drive near ORR Exit No. 9 on Wednesday. Police said the action followed a tip‑off from the special operations team (SOT), which noticed two men shifting LPG cylinders into an auto trolley. Officers seized five domestic LPG cylinders, three commercial cylinders, 36 small cylinders and the auto trolley used in the operation.

Two arrested for selling psychotropic tablets

Madhapur police arrested two persons for stocking and selling tramadol hydrochloride tablets, a psychotropic substance, without valid prescriptions, and seized 6,568 tablets during a raid on Prime Pharmacy in Ayyappa Society on Wednesday.

Police identified the accused as pharmacy owner Thorri Venkatesham and delivery agent Barlakadi Srikanth. Venkatesham had procured the tablets illegally from a supplier in Narayankhed, who is absconding. The tablets were sold without doctors’ prescriptions both directly from the pharmacy and through the delivery boy, with payments collected in cash.

Officials said the accused may have supplied the tablets to nearly 100–150 customers. Police are probing the supply chain, identifying customers and examining digital and financial evidence linked to the operation.

Event manager held over missing ring

A woman lodged a complaint against an event manager alleging that he failed to return her lost gold ring, which had been handed over to him by an invitee at a convention hall in Jubilee Hills.

Police said complainant Sheetal Agarwal, a resident near Peddamma Temple, lost her ring while attending a wedding ceremony at a convention hall in Narsingi on July 22. The following day, an invitee who found the ring handed it to event manager Pankaj Shastri, asking him to return it to the owner.

When Agarwal contacted Shastri, he claimed he had given the ring to his employee, who then lost it. Police registered a case and detained Shastri for questioning.

13 booked after sarpanch's husband attempts suicide

Police have booked 13 persons under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other relevant provisions after the husband of a village sarpanch allegedly attempted suicide following an altercation during a gram panchayat meeting in Narayanpur village of Gangadhara mandal on Wednesday.

According to police, Dikonda Madhu, husband of Narayanpur sarpanch Babalaxmi, allegedly attempted suicide at his residence after he was allegedly humiliated during the meeting.

He was shifted to a private hospital in Karimnagar, where he is undergoing treatment. Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam visited the hospital to enquire about his condition.

In her complaint, Babalaxmi alleged that 13 villagers abused her husband, used caste-based slurs and humiliated him during the meeting, driving him to attempt suicide.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Annadi Damodar Reddy, Bathini Venkataramana, Sunke Shankar, M.D. Nazeer, Thodeti Anil, Thodeti Rajender, Jada Mahesh, Myakala Mallesh, Myakala Haribabu, Peddipyata Sripathi Chary, Gurram Ramu, Mekala Mallesh and Katipalli Srinivas Reddy.

Sub-Inspector B. Vamshi Krishna said further investigation is under way.
