Congress Stages ‘Maha Dharna’ Seeking KCR’s Resignation
Party leaders target BRS chief over prolonged absence from the Telangana Assembly
Hyderabad: The Congress on Sunday staged ‘Maha Dharna’ at Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk demanding immediate resignation of BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as legislator following his prolonged absence from the Assembly.
Thousands of partymen descended on Dharna Chowk from across the state to demand Chandrashekar Rao’s resignation. Senior leaders said Chandrashekar Rao must do justice to his role as Leader of the Opposition or resign if he chose to remain confined to his farmhouse. They criticised him for taking a monthly salary while avoiding the Assembly, calling it a mockery of the position.
The dharna was presided over by government adviser V. Hanumantha Rao. Participants included PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin, and several senior leaders.
