KARIMNAGAR: Velichala Rajendar Rao, newly appointed Congress in-charge for the Karimnagar Assembly constituency, on Tuesday said the party was determined to defeat the BRS and BJP in the upcoming Karimnagar Municipal Corporation elections.

Addressing the media at the Congress party office here, Rajendar Rao said the party would work collectively to capture the civic body and implement a special manifesto aimed at transforming the city’s infrastructure.

He said all Congress leaders were united and that candidates would be selected based on their financial, social and public standing. He also promised nominated posts for senior party workers and loyal activists.

Rajendar Rao announced that the party would prepare a special manifesto for Karimnagar’s development, which he said would serve as a roadmap for the city’s all-round growth. He added that the Congress aimed to develop Karimnagar across all sectors and promote it as a major tourism hub in the State.

Accusing the BRS and BJP of having tacit understandings, he said the people of Karimnagar were ready to teach both parties a lesson in the forthcoming elections.

SUDA chairman K. Narendar Reddy, city Congress president Anjan Kumar, former MLAs Arepalli Mohan and Koduru Satyanarayana, and other senior leaders were present.
