Congress Protests Sale Of Adilabad CCI Unit
The party alleged that local MLA Payal Shankar and MP Godam Nagesh had promised revival of the unit but failed to fulfil their commitments.
ADILABAD: Congress leaders and cadre, led by District Congress Committee president Naresh Jadhav, staged a protest on Friday against the dismantling of the Adilabad unit of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) and its proposed sale as scrap.
The party alleged that local MLA Payal Shankar and MP Godam Nagesh had promised revival of the unit but failed to fulfil their commitments.
Naresh Jadhav criticised the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for proceeding with the sale instead of reviving the factory.
Congress leaders demanded that the Central government take steps to restart the Adilabad unit, stating that it could generate employment for about 5,000 people directly and another 5,000 indirectly.
Former DCC president Sajid Khan and Adilabad Municipal chairperson Anusha also participated in the protest.
