Hyderabad: Former irrigation minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Friday said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government were conspiring to ensure the failure of the Kaleshwaram project barrages and pile the blame on former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for “failure” of the Kaleshwaram project.

Addressing a gathering at a function where he released a book ‘Kaleshwaram Project: Prasnalu, Vimarsalu-Vakrikaranalu-Vivaranalu’, written by Sridharrao Deshpande, officer on special duty in the chief minister’s office during the BRS rule, Harish Rao said it was all about facts and had nothing to do with politics being played by Revanth Reddy on the Kaleshwaram project.

“All that Revanth Reddy wants is to try and remove the name of KCR from history as the man who planned the project to meet the water needs of Telangana for the next 100 years. And to this end, Revanth is sacrificing the future of the state and farmers,” Harish Rao said.

He said the book exposed the lies being peddled by Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders be it the reasons for shifting the project from Tummidihatti as planned earlier, or the project costs, and how the project was designed and executed only following approvals and clearances from the Centre.

“A leader,” Harish Rao said, “should always have the welfare of the state and people at the heart of every decision taken. Now in the wake of the receipt of the NDSA report, the Vigilance & Enforcement Wing report and the pending Justice Ghose Commission report, all the facts about the project that demolish the trumped up charges against KCR and Kaleshwaram project have been presented cleared in the book with evidences.”

Harish Rao said everyone needs to understand the motives behind the Chief Minister and the Congress criticism of the Kaleshwaram project which are all about waiting for the project to end up as a failure just so they can blame KCR for their failure to manage the project and do the needful.
