CM Revanth Reddy, TPCC chief Mahesh Goud in Delhi for key meeting with AICC leadership
Hyderabad: All eyes are on the Congress' high-stakes meeting convened by the party high command in Delhi on Friday. The meeting, which will include Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior party leaders, is expected to address the revamping of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and the Cabinet expansion.
The Chief Minister and senior leaders are scheduled to leave for Delhi on Friday morning for the crucial discussions. Initially, this meeting was slated for May 26 but it had to be postponed to May 30 due to the unavailability of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. The Chief Minister stayed in Delhi for three days during his previous visit for this meeting.
Revanth Reddy arrived in New Delhi on May 22 to attend the Niti Aayog governing council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 23. However, following instructions from the party high command, he stayed back in Delhi until May 26, awaiting discussions on the TPCC revamp and cabinet expansion.
The TPCC president too was also summoned to Delhi on May 25 and 26 for deliberations.
During their stay, Revanth Reddy and Goud met with AICC general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal to discuss both issues in detail. Subsequently, Goud and Venugopal had a meeting with AICC leader Rahul Gandhi on May 26. Sources say Rahul Gandhi had assured the leaders that decisions on the TPCC revamp and the cabinet expansion would be made during the upcoming meeting on May 30, chaired by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Chief Minister also hosted a dinner meeting for his cabinet ministers, TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and Meenakshi Natarajan, AICC in-charge for Telangana on Wednesday night. The meeting assumed significance as it was held just ahead of the May 30 meeting in Delhi.
The leaders reportedly discussed and drafted a comprehensive report outlining their views on the TPCC revamp and cabinet expansion, which is expected to be submitted to the party high command at Friday's meeting.
