Hyderabad:BJP legislature party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of deliberately delaying the cabinet expansion by creating obstacles and provoking rival groups, fearing it would weaken his hold over the ministry.
In a media interaction, Maheshwar Reddy alleged that this encouragement of groupism has been delaying the cabinet expansion for over a year and a half. He also claimed that the Congress high command is reportedly considering replacing the Chief Minister. He further claimed that senior Congress leaders have assured incumbent ministers of a leadership change after the local body elections.
The BJLP leader alleged that two senior ministers in Revanth Reddy’s cabinet have been regularly reporting to the Congress high command on sensitive issues like the University of Hyderabad controversy, HYDRAA and Musi cleaning projects, the Future City development and the Kodangal land dispute.
Talking about an alleged rift in the government, Maheshwar Reddy claimed the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka have serious differences. He averred that despite Revanth Reddy’s warnings about the state’s bankrupt financial condition and inability to secure new loans, Bhatti Vikramarka has not supported him publicly. While Revanth Reddy is reportedly open to imposing financial emergency measures to address the fallout from previous BRS government policies, other ministers fear public backlash and are reluctant to back such moves, Maheshwar Reddy claimed.
