Congress demeaning Indian armed forces: Union Minister Kishan Reddy
Congress and its leaders are resorting to cheap and dirty politics: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president and Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy accused Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, of repeatedly demeaning the brave actions of the armed forces during Operation Sindoor. He said this had become a routine for them.
In a post on social media platform X, Kishan Reddy alleged that it was not the first time Congress leaders resorted to cheap politics by raising doubts about Operation Sindoor. He said that Congress had previously questioned surgical strikes, thereby demoralising the armed forces. “Congress leaders have always spoken in the enemy’s language. If their actions are not disloyal to Bharat, then for whom are they loyal?” he asked.
Clarifying that the Tiranga Rally was not a party event but a gathering of people from all sections of society, Kishan Reddy stated no BJP flags were used. He criticised Rahul Gandhi for speaking against national institutions such as the judiciary and Election Commission from foreign soil. “He fails to understand Indian traditions and still reflects his foreign roots,” he alleged.
Responding to Revanth Reddy’s remark that Rahul Gandhi, if prime minister, could have reclaimed Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Kishan Reddy recalled that PoK was a legacy of Indira Gandhi’s time. Despite India capturing 93,000 Pakistani soldiers and pushing to Lahore during the 1971 war, PoK was handed over to Pakistan, he recalled.
Kishan Reddy said ISI activities had been curbed since Narendra Modi became prime minister. Sensitive areas such as Nirmal, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Bhainsa and Sangareddy had returned to normalcy with no reports of ISI interference. He pointed out that the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections saw record turnout after the abrogation of Article 370, which Rahul Gandhi had predicted would lead to a “Palestine-like situation.”
When asked about political developments in BRS, Kishan Reddy dismissed them as a family dispute over property and power within a “BRS Private Limited Company.” He said the “daddy-daughter, sister-brother issue” was a family matter unrelated to Telangana’s people and advised party leaders to avoid commenting on it.
On Revanth Reddy’s failure to secure a meeting with Rahul Gandhi during his Delhi visits, Kishan Reddy said it was a reflection of Congress’s ongoing disrespect towards Telangana and its people. He recalled that even former chief minister T. Anjaiah had faced similar treatment from Congress leaders in Delhi.
In a separate statement, BJP legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy accused Revanth Reddy of carrying a foreign agenda and engaging in manipulative, puppet-like politics. He said Revanth’s remarks at the ‘Jai Hind’ rally in Bachupally revealed a pro-Pakistan stance. “While Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserts that Operation Sindoor will continue as long as Pakistan sponsors terrorism, Revanth Reddy follows the path of Trump and Rahul Gandhi by falsely claiming a ceasefire was accepted. Such tactics damage national interests and Narendra Modi’s image,” Maheshwar Reddy said.
He further claimed Congress had transformed into the “Pakistan National Congress,” citing that even Jawaharlal Nehru had pursued pro-Pakistan and pro-Muslim policies. He reiterated that despite India’s victory in the 1971 war, Indira Gandhi had handed over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir instead of bringing it under India’s control.
