Congress, BJP Fete New Sarpanches in Adilabad

Adilabad: Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Friday said village development is the foundation for the State’s progress and urged newly elected sarpanches to actively lead their gram panchayats. He said the State government is committed to achieving Gram Swarajya and called upon local bodies to be partners in that effort.
The Congress and the BJP organised separate felicitation programmes for newly elected sarpanches in Adilabad town. Union minister G. Kishan Reddy attended the BJP event.
Addressing the Congress programme, Krishna Rao assured the sarpanches that the government would fulfil promises made during the elections. He said elected representatives should prioritise basic amenities and work to develop gram panchayats as model villages. He also assured that there would be no delay in releasing funds for development works and asked sarpanches to take welfare and development schemes to every household.
The minister requested Kishan Reddy to ensure that National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) procures affected soybean produce to provide relief to distressed farmers. He later had lunch with the elected sarpanches.
DCC president Naresh Jadhav, former MLA Atram Sakku, former MP Soyam Bapurao, and senior Congress leaders Sajid Khan, Gandarth Sujatha, Ade Gajender, Sanjeev Reddy, Mallepula Narsaiah, Atam Suguna and Taherbin Ahmad were present.
At the BJP programme, Kishan Reddy urged party cadre and sarpanches to work towards winning more ZPTC and MPTC seats and reiterated the party’s commitment to the development of Adilabad district.
Sarpanches from Adilabad and Boath constituencies participated in the felicitation programmes.
