Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Vakati Srihari garlanded the statue of Ilamma during celebrations marking her 131st birth anniversary at Pratima Multiplex on Collectorate Road.

Karimnagar:Congress and BJP activists clashed during Chakali Ilamma Jayanti celebrations in Karimnagar on Saturday.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Vakati Srihari garlanded the statue of Ilamma during celebrations marking her 131st birth anniversary at Pratima Multiplex on Collectorate Road.

The ministers left the venue without speaking, following which BJP leaders raised objections. Congress leaders then entered into an argument with BJP activists.

A jostling took place between the two groups. During the clash, a BJP worker allegedly slapped a ruling party activist. Congress activists tried to retaliate but were stopped.

Police intervened and brought the situation under control by dispersing the groups from the spot.
