Warangal: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of failing to honour its commitments to farmers, alleging that its pre-election promises were misleading.

Addressing the ‘Rythu Sangrama Sadassu’ in Hanamkonda, he said the Congress had deceived the farming community with what he termed a “bogus farmer’s declaration” and urged farmers to hold local leaders accountable for unfulfilled assurances.

Referring to a farmers’ declaration announced in Warangal four years ago by Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, he questioned the status of the 34 promises, stating that several months had passed despite assurances of implementation within 100 days.

Taking aim at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he raised concerns over the rollout of ‘Rythu Bharosa’ support of Rs 15,000 per acre. He said the previous government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao had provided Rs 10,000 per acre under ‘Rythu Bandhu’ during the sowing season, and alleged that the current administration had not ensured timely financial assistance. He also sought clarity on the promised Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver, Rs 12,000 annual support for farm labourers and Rs 14,000 assistance for tenant farmers.

Rama Rao criticised the Chief Minister’s visits to Delhi, alleging that despite multiple trips, there had been no tangible benefit to farmers. He also flagged issues in grain procurement and warned of backlash if delays or deductions related to damaged grain continued.

He termed the Congress ‘Rythu Mela’ a “Daga Mela” and called on farmers to question party leaders, stating that the BRS would continue its agitation until the promises were implemented.
