Senior BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday accused the Congress government of pushing Telangana towards “asset bankruptcy” by auctioning valuable government lands to meet immediate revenue needs.

Criticising the government’s decision to auction more land through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), he said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration was sacrificing permanent public assets for temporary financial relief.

“Congress is leading Telangana towards asset bankruptcy. A government that continuously sells its most valuable assets without creating new sources of income is weakening the financial foundation of the State,” he said in a statement.

Narayana Reddy warned that indiscriminate land sales could undermine the state's financial credibility and borrowing capacity, affecting its ability to fund welfare schemes, hospitals, universities and infrastructure projects.
