Hyderabad:A damaged statue of Lord Shiva led to tension in Sangareddy’s Jinnaram mandal. However, it was later revealed that monkeys had damaged the statue.
Inspector General of Police V. Satyanarayana said the statue was found damaged on Tuesday night. Some locals saw some students coming from the temple in the evening and questioned them. Without knowing facts, a mob damaged the property of the school. Following the incident, police deployed forces and took up a probe.
It was found that some monkeys had brushed against the statue which rolled down from atop the hill.
The IG said that spreading false propaganda disturbs public peace and action will be taken against such people.
Similar incidents have taken place in the district. Six months ago, cows had entered a temple in Sadasivpet and destroyed statues, creating tensions.
