Common Pass for Metro, Buses Likely in 15 Days
Jaju prods Metro, RTC to expedite common travel pass
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and TGSRTC are likely to introduce a common travel pass for Metro Rail and RTC buses, with daily and monthly options for commuters, within the next 15 days. Once implemented, commuters will be able to use a single pass for travel on both Metro Rail trains and RTC buses.
The decision was taken after Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju prodded officials of HMRL and RTC during a coordination meeting held at Metro Rail Bhavan in Begumpet on Sunday.
According to sources, Jaju directed HMRL and RTC officials to finalise the common fare structure and implement the joint pass without delay. “Officials from L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail and TGSRTC informed him that the technical arrangements for the integrated pass system had been finalised,” it was stated.
The common pass is intended to facilitate travel for commuters who use both Metro and bus services for their daily journeys. At an earlier meeting, Jaju had also directed officials to provide longer trains to accommodate passenger rush.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the proposed 7.5-km Old City Metro corridor and enquired about road-widening works and the tender process for appointing a General Consultant. He directed officials to expedite the works and ensure that project activities commence at the earliest.
Later, Jaju travelled by Metro from Begumpet to Paradise along with HMRL managing director Sarfaraz Ahmad and additional managing director B. Ajith Reddy. He inspected commercial complexes and parking facilities at the stations and suggested measures for their further development.
