IT Minister pitches Hyderabad as India’s innovation capital; over 500 leaders join HEF 2026
Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu on Monday invited innovators, entrepreneurs and creators to bring their ideas to the state, assuring full support to turn them into reality, as he addressed the inaugural Hyderabad Economic Forum (HEF) 2026.
Delivering the keynote on “Hyderabad: Becoming India’s Innovation Capital,” the minister highlighted that the 21st century belongs to nations that attract ideas, talent and innovation. He noted India’s rise in the Global Innovation Index and said Telangana is determined to lead this transformation.
Positioning Hyderabad as one of India’s fastest-growing economic and innovation hubs, he outlined key initiatives including AIKAM, Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), a ₹1,000-crore Fund of Funds for startups, and plans for an AI University, Skill University and 100 advanced ITIs.
“Come to Telangana with an idea. We may not guarantee success for every idea, but we assure support, opportunity and confidence for every sincere effort,” he said.
The forum, hosted by SAS Infra in association with Bower School of Entrepreneurship at SAS iTower, Khajaguda, brought together over 500 business leaders, policymakers, investors and industry experts to discuss Hyderabad’s future growth.
The day-long event featured sessions on economic outlook, infrastructure, AI transformation, startups, investment and multiple sectors including life sciences, real estate, education and sports.
Industry leaders and experts emphasised Hyderabad’s unique position to emerge as a global economic and innovation hub, with the forum marking the beginning of a long-term platform to shape the city’s growth and competitiveness.
