Warangal: District collector T.S. Divakara on Saturday directed officials to accelerate landscaping and renovation works at the Sri Sammakka-Saralamma Temple during a high-level inspection at Medaram in Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district.

He said all beautification works must be completed within the stipulated timeline to cater to the rapidly rising number of devotees expected for the upcoming Maha Jatara.

Accompanied by divisional forest officer Rahul Kishan Jadhav, the collector reviewed the ongoing landscaping works around the temple premises and instructed officials to develop the area as a natural forest garden, in keeping with the site’s spiritual and ecological significance. He also ordered the immediate installation of brackets on the stone pillars along the temple boundary and the placement of pre-tensioned (PT) beams on the main entrance arch.

Marking a key milestone, the collector formally launched the installation of the PT beam for the Saralamma main arch. The arch is being developed as a cultural landmark, with carvings depicting the Saralamma family tree, traditional Koya tribal art and ancient scripts. The works form part of a larger initiative to modernise the Gaddelu (platforms) while retaining the tribal heritage associated with the goddesses.

With pilgrim numbers already rising ahead of the festival, the collector inspected the model queue lines and the installation of safety grills around the platforms. He issued firm instructions to sanitation teams to ensure continuous waste collection and cleanliness at all key locations, including the temple surroundings, the Jampanna Vagu area and the RTC bus station.

Stating that there was no scope for delay as the Jatara draws closer, the collector called for coordinated efforts to ensure a smooth and safe experience for visiting devotees.

District panchayat officer Venkataiah, endowments officer Veeraswamy, forest department officer Ramesh and priests association president Jagga Rao, among others, were present.
