Hyderabad: Two days after two persons died in the collapse of an unauthorised building, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Monday identified 38 unauthorised under‑construction buildings for action. Notices were served on 28 structures, one building was seized, and nine were demolished.

The enforcement drive focused on plots below 75 sq yds where construction exceeded seven metres in height. Action was also initiated against plots above 75 sq yds constructed without permission, regardless of height. “Cases are being identified through citizen complaints as well as field inspections,” a CMC official said.

CMC commissioner G. Srijana said inspections would cover all such buildings, not just those around the collapsed structure in Anjaiahnagar, Gachibowli. She added that demolitions would be carried out in coordination with HYDRAA.

Officials noted that numerous unauthorised structures had also been built on nalas, leaving them structurally weak. Assessments will be conducted on these sites as well.

In Kukatpally Zone, CMC staff carried out demolitions at LIG‑532, 7th Phase, KPHB, following instructions from competent authorities. Enforcement staff participated in serving notices and demolitions. “Further action will be taken as required, in accordance with the commissioner’s instructions,” an official from Kukatpally zone said.
