CMC And MMC's Food Safety Teams Conduct Inspections
The Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations have intensified their drives on food handlers. CMC’s food safety teams inspected the Reliance Retail Limited Store in Kompally, while MMC’s teams inspected the Zepto Store in Malkajgiri and Lucky Restaurant in Nagole.
At the Reliance store, awarded 128 marks out of 165, CMC officials observed that disposable products and sale stock were not segregated properly, and also found 14 expired Cuppa Oats boxes, one packet of Blue Bird Veg Jelly Crystals and 6 bags of 10 kilogram Fortune Sona Masoori Rice during inspection. They also found pest-infested Suji (Upma Rava). and loose rice, suji, pulses, spices and millets were kept in open bins without lids, posing a risk of contamination.
At the Zepto store, officials observed that food items were stored in unhygienic conditions, with several items placed directly on the floor. Food handlers were seen working without aprons and gloves, and the flooring was patchy and unhygienic. Officials also observed heavy housefly infestation throughout the establishment, and waste materials were not being removed regularly.
At Lucky Restaurant, authorities found houseflies in the sauce and ice cream, which was subsequently discarded. They also observed boiled chicken which was stored without proper labeling. They collected the food samples and sent them to the laboratory for analysis. They also noted that the vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together in the freezer.
Officials noted that rusted and unhygienic storage racks were used for biscuits and bread, and newspapers were being used to cover food items such as samosas. Even the store room was found unhygienic, with food items being scattered on the floor and cobwebs on the ceiling.
