Nalgonda: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will lay the foundation stone for a Veda Patashala and initiate works for roofing the steps leading to the hill shrine of Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta in Yadadri-Bhongir district.

Temple authorities said the Chief Minister will first offer darshan at the shrine before laying the foundation stone for the Vedic school, proposed to be developed on 100 acres in the temple town. He will also launch works for providing a roof over the steps leading to the hill shrine. The detailed schedule of the visit is yet to be released.

The roofing project follows concerns over the lack of shelter on the steps, which has caused inconvenience to devotees during summer and rains. Acting suo motu, the Lokayukta had directed the endowments commissioner, the temple executive officer and the Yadadri Temple Development Authority (YTDA) vice-chairman to appear before it and seek explanations. The YTDA has since taken up the roofing work as assured.

Meanwhile, there was no official confirmation on reports of a Cabinet meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister at Yadagirigutta.

District collector Anuraag Jayanti has directed officials to make arrangements for the visit, including preparation of a helipad at the temple town. He also reviewed security arrangements with police officials.
