CM Revanth, Venkaiah Naidu Pay Tributes to Sudhakar Reddy

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his AP counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday paid tributes to CPI veteran Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, who died here on Friday. The body of Sudhakar Reddy body was later donated to the Gandhi Medical College here for medical research.
The Chief Minister went to Makhdoom Bhavan, the state CPI headquarters, where the mortal remains of the CPI stalwart, wrapped in the party flag, were placed for the public to pay their respects. Former vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao were among the leaders who paid homage on Sunday.
Revanth Reddy said that the Cabinet would take a decision on a memorial for Sudhakar Reddy. The Chief Minister’s Office said in a release said that on the lines of the Horticulture University named after Konda Laxman Bapuji, and the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme after S. Jaipal Reddy, Sudhakar Reddy will also be remembered permanently.
Stating that the passing away of the CPI leader was an irreparable loss for Telangana, the CM said Sudhakar Reddy lived a courageous life and fought an ideological struggle without any compromise.
Sudhakar Reddy, 83, a former MP, died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here. He was elected to the Lok Sabha twice, had served as the general secretary of CPI during 2012-19.
Revanth Reddy had on Saturday directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to issue orders to accord state honours to Sudhakar Reddy. Since there was no cremation, the state honours were presented prior to his last journey to the Gandhi Medical College, where his body was donated for medical research as per his wish.
Hundreds of party activists took part in the procession, chanting of “Comrade Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Amar Rahe” and “Lal Salaam”.
