CM Revanth Pushes AI Integration In Telangana Education System

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday asked Reserve Bank of India former governor Raghuram Rajan for recommendations for the formation of a committee to examine the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education curricula at all levels and in all sectors in the state. The Chief Minister also briefed Rajan about the establishment of the Skills University and Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) to facilitate the creation of middle-level employment opportunities.

During a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister on the development plans of Telangana, Rajan, who took part via videoconference, said that the establishment of new industries and investments flow depended significantly on the government's ‘Ease of Doing Business’ policies. He underscored the need to provide encouragement to the startups which would yield even more beneficial results.

The former RBI Governor remarked that if AI was utilised in a proper and systematic manner, it would prove beneficial for everyone. He suggested that adopting an industrial policy similar to Tamil Nadu could help attract greater investments. Rajan also observed that data centres entailed significant consumption of both electricity and water. He stated that he intends to visit Hyderabad within the next three to four months.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who attended the meeting via videoconference, affirmed that the state possessed all the necessary facilities including required land and infrastructure for industrial growth. Electricity is also being generated to meet the future requirement, he said. Bhatti said that amenities including an international airport and the Outer Ring Road was in place and fully operational.

In addition to establishing Regional Ring Roads, the government was developing radial roads and creating specialised clusters for industries. Law and order was also being maintained with great rigor. The state has already been divided into three distinct zones to facilitate a focused approach toward development, the Deputy CM elaborated.

Bhatti stated that the administration is moving forward based on the "CURE, PURE and RARE” model, segregating the state to the core urban area of Hyderabad, a peri-urban area comprising its surroundings and the rest of the rural areas. The Young India Skills University had been established to enhance skill development among the youth. The ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) are being upgraded into ATCs (Advanced Training Centers) to impart vocational skills to students. He remarked that CM Revanth Reddy is working tirelessly, around the clock, for the development of the state and requested Raghuram Rajan to offer appropriate advice and suggestions for the industrial growth of Telangana.

IT and Industries minister D. Sridhar Babu, stated that the prevailing conditions in Telangana are highly conducive to ease of doing business. He explained to Rajan that the government is providing the necessary favorable environment and infrastructure required for the Pharma, IT, and data centre sectors.
