Revanth to Fight with Centre for State’s Funds
CM Launches ₹532 Cr Works, Promises Warangal’s Rise to Hyderabad Standards
Warangal: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said that his government would fight a sustained battle with the Centre to secure a greater share of funds for Telangana, asserting that people’s support would strengthen the state’s voice in Delhi.
Addressing a public meeting in Narsampet in Warangal district as part of the Praja Palana-Praja Vijayotsavalu programme, Revanth Reddy said the government was rolling out ambitious welfare schemes and infrastructure projects that required substantial financial backing, and the Centre must extend its cooperation.
With public support, he said the state government was prepared to confront the Centre to secure Telangana’s rightful share of resources.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 532.24 crore in the Narsampet constituency, covering educational facilities, healthcare upgrades and major road improvements. Speaking after the event, he said these initiatives were aimed at bridging regional gaps and ensuring equitable development across Warangal district.
Revanth Reddy came down heavily on the previous BRS regime, alleging that its leaders focused on personal enrichment while ignoring public needs.
He said the BRS government’s priorities had pushed the state into heavy debt and left constituencies like Narsampet lagging behind. Despite their defeat in the recent Jubilee Hills bypoll, BRS leaders continued to remain adamant without introspecting on their failures, he remarked.
Referring to the ongoing gram panchayat elections, the Chief Minister urged contestants to refrain from spending money to influence voters. “Elections should be centred on service rather than financial power, and stressed the need to reduce factionalism in villages. People should elect sarpanches willing to work in coordination with ministers and MLAs to address local issues,” he said.
Revanth Reddy reiterated his commitment to developing Warangal on par with Hyderabad.
He announced that works on the Warangal Airport, Outer Ring Road and an underground drainage system would commence before March 31. He accused former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao discouraged farmers by calling paddy cultivation a risky proposition, noting that the Congress government had made agriculture viable by restoring 24-hour free power and offering a Rs 500 bonus above MSP for fine paddy.
He highlighted that Rs 9,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa had been disbursed within nine days during Kharif this year and that Rs 20,000 crore worth of farm loans were waived for 25.35 lakh farmers. The state was supplying fine rice to 3.10 crore beneficiaries through 1.10 crore ration cards, incurring an annual expenditure of Rs 13,000 crore to ensure food security.
Revanth Reddy said construction of over 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses was in progress, recalling that the Congress government under Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had built 25 lakh houses earlier. He reiterated the goal of making one crore women ‘crorepatis’, citing initiatives such as free bus travel for women, opportunities to run petrol pumps and solar units, and the proposed distribution of one crore Indiramma saris once the election code ended.
