Hyderabad: The civil supplies department has procured over 30 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy in the ongoing rabi season, against a target of 90 LMT, due to efficient logistics, officials said on Wednesday.
The department has disbursed Rs 4,520 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) payments to farmers so far. Of the total procurement, 9 LMT is fine variety (sannarakam) and 21 LMT coarse variety (doddurakam).
Officials said logistics have been strengthened to avoid storage bottlenecks, with around 11,500 vehicles deployed to transport paddy from purchase centres to mills. Special officers have been posted at procurement centres and mills to monitor operations.
