Civil contractor locks Ibrahimpatnam Tahsildar office demanding to clear bills
Civil contractor stages unique protest
Hyderabad: A civil contractor Danaiah staged a unique protest by locking the main gate of Ibrahimpatnam Tahsildar office in Ranga Reddy on Monday as officials failed to clear his Rs.50 lakh pending bills for carrying out works in the district.
Danaiah, a resident of Ibrahimpatnam, completed construction of the Zilla Parishad office in Ibrahimpatnam. But the Executive Engineer (EE) and other officials concerned were unable to clear the bills forcing him to slip into debts. He constructed the building with the amount taken on loan at the interest rate of Rs.3.
Even as construction was on, Danaiah continued to pay more than Rs.1 lakh as interest. Due to lack of sufficient funds to complete the work, he sold 20 guntas and ensured completion of the construction work. Yet, the officials were not clearing his pending bills.
Instead of clearing bills, officials allegedly forced him to move from pillar to post further delaying the payment of the bills. Fed up over officials’ apathetic attitude, Danaiah reached Tahsildar office and locked the main gate demanding officials to clear his pending bills. Speaking to media persons, he requested the State government to bail him out of the situation and clear his bills at the earliest.
