Warangal: Warangal Police Commissionerate has suspended two police officers over alleged corruption in a case handled in Bachannapet police station limits after an internal inquiry substantiated the allegations, police said on Sunday.

The suspended officers are circle inspector of Narmetta police station under the Commissionerate's West Zone, M. Abbaiah, and sub-inspector at Bachannapet police station Sheikh Hameed, who is now attached to the Armed Reserve.

Police Commissioner Sun Preet Singh issued the suspension orders after receiving inquiry reports confirming the allegations against the officers.

Police said complaints of irregularities and corruption surfaced during the investigation of a case handled by the officers while they were posted at Bachannapet police station. Based on the inquiry findings, the Commissionerate placed both officers under suspension pending departmental proceedings.

Senior police officials said the Commissionerate follows a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and misconduct and would take strict action against personnel found violating service rules or compromising the integrity of the department.
