Chilkur Balaji Temple Conducts Special Prayers for Rain
A large number of devotees gathered at the reservoir to witness the rituals, expressing hope that the prayers would bring timely rains to Telangana.
Hyderabad: With hopes for good rainfall fading with each passing day, priests at the Chilkur Balaji Temple conducted special prayers on Monday, seeking timely rains and a prosperous monsoon for Telangana.
The special rituals began at around 8:30 a.m. at the Chilkur Balaji Temple under the guidance of chief priest Rangarajan and a team of Vedic priests. Devotees also participated in the prayers, offering collective prayers for abundant rainfall across the State.
Following the temple rituals, the priests carried a sacred Kalash in a procession to the Osman Sagar (Gandipet) reservoir, where they performed traditional Vedic rituals on the lakefront. The priests chanted Varuna Japam mantras 108 times, invoking Lord Varuna, the Hindu deity of rain, and prayed for widespread rainfall and a good agricultural season.
