HYDERABAD: Deputy commissioner of police, Charminar Zone, Kiran Khare, during a counselling session with notorious offenders and sheeters, issued a final ultimatum on illegal “mamool” collection from shopkeepers and street vendors in Charminar area.

Special focus was laid on preserving the image and smooth functioning of Charminar as a key tourist destination. The Charminar Zone police reiterated zero tolerance towards extortion and urged public cooperation in maintaining law and order. “Any violation will invite immediate legal action, including opening of rowdy sheets, registration of cases, arrest, and remand. This is a final warning,” Kiran Khare said.

All identified persons were strictly warned to desist from any form of extortion or intimidation.

The DCP also emphasised a reform approach, giving a final opportunity to change behaviour and adopt lawful means of livelihood. He further instructed shopkeepers and vendors to maintain discipline by avoiding encroachments, preventing traffic obstruction, and ensuring a clean and orderly environment.
